Digital Globe has issues a release that Google and Digital Globe are working closely to provide updated imagery via Google Maps™ (New Orleans view), Google Earth™ mapping service, and the complete line of GlobeExplorer suite of products including ImageAtlas as quickly possible.
Digital Globe has five potential satellite accesses planned for the next week to collect usable satellite imagery of the impacted areas, and hopefully speed up humanitarian need efforts.
Google has archived Hurricane Katrina imagery for viewing as “image overlays” in Google Earth.
Google has been working with NASA, Carnegie Mellon University to do basic alignment on all 2000+ images currently available from NOAA.
