AOL pushing Google to try more complex ads

The AOL deal with Google is said to be announced this afternoon. In that deal, it is said to be that AOL is suggesting to Google that they try some more graphically intense ads to ad some substance to the sparceness of Google’s site.

Google made a name for itself in the online advertising field by providing simply, yet effective text ads on its search engine. Now with the AOL deal, Google has been pushed into trying something new, more complex ads.

Details of the deal may include $300 million in advertising being provided to AOL on Google that can be spent on traditional text ads or on these new experimental formats.

The New York Times provides more insight into the deal, and what AOL wants out of Google before accepting this new deal.
